Ron Bowers 2005 INBA Reno Natural Body Building Championships Novice Division Short Class Champion

Ron Bowers is 30 years old and currently resides in Portola, CA. Like most males, Ron lifted weights in high school for foot ball and was in great shape. However, once in the real world Ron found that it was not so easy to stay in shape. After working for State Farm Insurance for years and traveling all over the county, Ron returned home to help his mother care for his ailing father. Ron began training seriously in 2002 when he discovered the Body for Life program. He was serious about losing fat and getting back into shape. Ron met Brad Loomis when Brad bought the gym Ron was training at and the two hit it off immediately. The two trained together for most all of 2002 before Ron moved to Reno.
Ron competed for the first time in 2005 and won his class at the Mr and Ms. Reno Naturals. Ron showed up in great shape and after four rounds of cometition the judges awarded him 1st place in the short class. Ron then moved on to the fifth and final round. Two competitors would vie for the overall and even though the winner of the tall class was bigger, Ron was much leaner and harder. However the judges found that was not enough and awarded Ron second place overall. Ron trained at Healthy Bodies Fitness under coach Brad Loomis. It took him about 15 weeks to get in his awesome physical condition. He used 16 minutes of intense cardiovascular training 5 - 6 days a week and utilized the Maximum Overload Training Principles. Ron calculated his own nutritional regimen with the help of his coach.
Trish Harvey 2005 INBA Reno Natural Body Building Championships 3rd Place winner Novice Division
Trish is 48 years old and currently resides in Blairsden California. Trish has always been physically fit as her family was brought up working out and the importance of good health emphasized. Trishes father had taught all 9 of the kids the importance of exercise and good nutrition. She had been working out at the Quincy Athletic club for quite some time, but hired Brad at Healthy Bodies as her personal trainer after finally overcoming her fear of the little barn shaped building and her claustrophobia. Brad new Trish would make an excellent competitive body builder due to her hard work ethic and excellent organizational skills. It took some effort, but Brad talked her into doing her first show in 2005.
Trish showed up a slight 97 pounds at the show, but her lean and muscular physique put her in contention for the win. The judges chose to put all the ladies together in one class instead of splitting them into short and tall classes. This left Trish only one chance to win the overall. It was close, but in the end Trish was awarded a respectable 3rd place in the Novice division.
Chris Ryman 2005 USBF Baltimore Natural Pro-Am 5th place winner Novice Division
Chris Ryman lives in Woodstock Virginia and has competed 4 times with the USBF. Brad Loomis lives in Portola California and has competed 3 times with the ABA/INBA. So how is it that these two have come to know one another? Chris read an article featuring Brad Loomis on the AST Sports Science website. http://www.ast-ss.com/jeffwillet/RoadTo2003/DailyJournal.asp?display=news&jid=55&week=7 He knew that this was a guy he wanted to tap into as a resource. Chris contacted Brad in late 2004 as he was preparing for a show. Chris was completely changing his whole approach to this his fifth show and wanted Brad to coach him. As it turned out, Chris began his preparation to late in the year and had to let 2004 go. Chris used the advice that Brad gave him in 2004 and attacked 2005 with a new strategy and a new mind set toward body building. He began his preaparation in June at a body weight of 205 lbs. He had his work cut out for him. However, he executed his nutrition and supplement schedule day in and day out with precision. He did his Max-OT style cardio and weight training week in and week out. As the weeks progressed, Chris slowly cut his calories week by week and kept stoking his metabolism with short and intense cardiovascular training, small frequent meals, and heavy weight training to add slabs of metabolism jacking muscle.
The final crucial week of preparation came and Chris met a new strategy Brad presented with hesitation. He had never consumed so many carbs, he had never manipulated his electrolites and sodium, and he had never consumed so much water. Chris knew that Brad used the same strategy and knew that he had fantastic results. So he put his faith in "The Process" and went forth with 100% certainty. Chris started the nutrient manipulation process Wednesday at a body weight of 156 pounds. At the weigh ins on Saturday he weighed 144 pounds. The 12 pounds of water that Chris had shed left his physique small, but lean and hard. 10 competitors were in Chris's class and after 3 rounds of prejudging, only the top five would advance to the 4th round which would take place later that evening. Imagine Chris's excitement when he was announced as part of the top five. He had already achieved his best ever showing and the night had just begun. The judges would announce the winners after the final round. Chris got to perform his posing routine to the crowd before the final round took place. As the five competitors stood before the judges, Chris was the first name announced officially placing him 5th among the 10 competitors. Chris brought home a trophy for his efforts to a proud family consisting of his daughter MacKenzie and wife Gabby. Photos Courtesy of: Brad Loomis, Chris Ryman, and Nicholas Griner
Sean Saulnier 2004 INBA Northern Nevada Natural Body Building Championships 3rd Place winner Novice Teen Division
Sean first came to Healthy Bodies Fitness in 2002 when Brad first opened the new fitness center. He was one of Brads first clients. He was a shy kid, only 14 years old. In fact he was so shy his Mom had to bring him in. He knew he wanted to workout, he wanted to be strong, but he had no idea how. He had lifted before, but he would just do whatever made him sore, not even knowing why. Sean trained with Brad for all of 2003 helping Brad get ready for his first Body Building show. Then in 2004, Sean wanted to give competeing a try.
Sean had a hard time preparing for the show. He almost gave up on acouple of occaisions. Training is hard enough, but add to it that Sean was spending his last summer as high school student and his freinds were less than suppotive and it was nearly too much pressure for a 16 year old. He made it though and was in great condition for his first show. In his first eve show, Sean made a great showing and looked as if he had second in the bag and even could have contended for the win. The judges did not see it that way though as they awarded him 3rd place. At such a young age, Sean has the potential to be a great body builder and an even better competitor.
